EMG Power Spectrum Analysis

A common tool for investigating electromyography (EMG) data is the Power Spectrum Density (PSD). Use AcqKnowledge for EMG Frequency & Power Analysis to compare responses from one part of the recording to the next and for data reduction of large EMG signals. This frequency domain technique splits the EMG signal into a fixed number of time periods and runs the Power Spectral Density transformation on each epoch.

The following measurements are exported to a spreadsheet:

Data can be recorded with resuable or disposable surface EMG electrodes or needle electrodes using wired, wireless, or MRI Smart amplifiers.

This is one of many ADVANCED FEATURES for the selected Application. Scroll down for hardware options.

This frequency domain technique splits the EMG signal into a fixed number of time periods and runs the Power Spectral Density transformation on each epoch. The following measures are derived from the power spectrum of the EMG signal and extracted for reporting:

  • Median Frequency (Hz) – Frequency at which 50% of the total power within the epoch is reached.
  • Mean Frequency (Hz) – Frequency at which the average power within the epoch is reached.
  • Peak Frequency (Hz) – Frequency at which the maximum power occurs during the epoch.
  • Mean Power (V2/Hz*) – Average power of the power spectrum within the epoch.
  • Total Power (V2/Hz*)- Sum of the power at all frequencies of the power spectrum within the epoch.

*Units Note: V will be replaced with the voltage units in which the EMG was recorded.

Eye Tracking Glasses ETV

The ETVision (ETV) wearable eye tracking glasses resemble an eyeglasses frame that can be worn by itself or over the participant’s prescription eyeglasses. It contains miniature “eye cameras” that view each eye and a “scene camera” that views the scene in front of the participant, and a microphone. An optional visor can be mounted to […]
