BIOPAC provides a full range of virtual reality platforms that give researchers controlled and replicable experimental setups and allow manipulation that would be impossible or prohibitively expensive in the real world. A wide variety of virtual worlds are available. Events from the virtual or augmented world (AR) and physiological data are synchronized. The linking protocol allows you to use a feedback loop for greater control and automation of the VR world—change the VR world in real time, based on the subject’s responses.

The Stim-Response analysis package in AcqKnowledge aids in the analysis of various types of stimulus-response studies across multiple disciplines including psychophysiology, exercise science, communications, human factors, and more. Measurements are taken from the responses to each stimulus type and are extracted in tabular format for further statistical analysis. The stim-response package consists of two routines.
Digital Input to Stim Events—Identify and label stimulus events corresponding to any combination of digital inputs. The Digital input to stim events function works with TTL trigger information coming from applications including E-Prime®, SuperLab®, DirectRT®, MediaLab®, Inquisit®, Vizard, and Presentation. Convert TTL data acquired on the digital channels of an MP device into specific stimulus events. For each stimulus, a light bulb icon is placed in the global events bar, the event is labeled with the stimulus event type, and a mouse-over tag includes the event time. All event information is accessible and exportable from the Event Palette. The digital input to stim events program is useful when you have many different types of stimulus event groups.
Stim-Response Analysis—Extract measurements with fixed intervals.
The BIOPAC virtual reality platform provides controlled and replicable experimental setups and allows manipulation of the environment (and avatars) that would be impossible or prohibitively expensive in the real world. Synchronization of events from the virtual world with physiological data from an MP System allows accurate and automated data analysis. The linking protocol allows you to use a feedback loop for greater control and automation of the VR world; change the VR world in real time, based on the subject’s responses.
The virtual reality platform includes VR protocol, VR Toolkit (WorldViz Vizard VR Toolkit/Developer edition interface software), VR demos/tutorials, VR environment resources, and VR hardware options, including actuators, scent delivery, and HMD.
