MRI ECG Recording

Record ECG, heart rate, and R-R interval from a subject inside a functional MRI with a BIOPAC MP150 data acquisition system. The AcqKnowledge software (included with the MP150) will identify the frequency of the MRI gradient noise and eliminate it from the physiological data. This can be done in real-time or during post processing. The quality of the ECG signal is suitable for recording heart rate and R-R interval when the MRI is scanning.

The MP150 system and the ECG100C Electrocardiogram amplifier are placed in the control room. An MECMRI-BIOP filtered cable set is connected to the amplifier and the electrode leads. The cable set consists of three components:

The MECMRI-2 connects to the amplifier and the filter, which is mounted on the patch panel. The MECMRI1 connects to the other side of the filter and interfaces with LEAD108B or LEAD108C RT electrode leads.

The following data was taken from a subject while they underwent an fMRI. The top raw ECG channel (burgundy) shows the ECG with the gradient noise. The second channel shows the filtered ECG signal (red) and then finally the HR channel (blue).
