BIOPAC offers three solutions for human respiration measurements inside the MRI. The respiration belt is the easiest and most reliable method, but the pressurer pad or fast response thermistor also work well.
This MR Safe fully-pneumatic respiration transducer measures subject respiration (thoracic or abdominal) in the MRI. The extremely unobtrusive design presents minimal resistance to movement and can measure arbitrarily slow to very fast respiration patterns with no loss in signal amplitude, while maintaining excellent linearity and minimal hysteresis.
The TSD221-MRI includes the respiration sensor in a mesh strap with self-adhering band (70 cm), a pressure transducer (±2.5 cm H2O TSD160A), and three cascadable segments of tubing for up to 15.8 m.
Interface: Connects to the DA100C and an MP150 or MP100 System—does not require cable set MECMRI-DA or MECMRI-TRANS.
See More...The TSD202A-MRI is a very small, fast response temperature probe appropriate for use in locations where temperature changes rapidly, as with the temperature changes of inspired/expired breath. Place it under the nose, or over mouth and record the temperature change as the subject breathes in and out. The subject must breathe through their nose or mouth in order for this method to work. Use TAPE1 to secure the TSD202A-MRI.
Interface: MECMRI-TRANS filtered cable set + SKT100C Skin Temp Amplifier
Place the TSD110-MRI under a strap that is wrapped around the subject’s chest, or tape the transducer directly to the chest to record respiration. The transducer also works well with small animals – place the anesthetized animal on top of the pad to record respiration.
Interface: DA100C General Purpose Transducer Amplifier

The ERS Evoked Response Smart Amplifier is an extremely low noise differential amplifier that accurately amplifies very small potentials, such as those associated with stimulus/response, startle response, ABR auditory brainstem response, somatosensory evoked response, signal-averaged recordings, and nerve conduction velocity recordings. BIOPAC’s new Smart Amplifiers are designed for great data. Smart Amplifiers improve performance by […]
