Transmitter-Receiver Amplifiers

Amplifiers for BioNomadix Wireless, Wearable Physiology Recording Systems

BioNomadix® module pairs consist of a wireless Transmitter and matched Receiver. The module pair is designed to emulate a “wired” connection from the computer to subject, with all the benefits of a fully-wireless recording system. Each pair is specifically designed to measure and optimized for the specified signal types(s). The module set incorporates internal, non-distorting, highpass and lowpass filters to provide for high quality amplification of the complete waveform. The BioNomadix system of wearable wireless devices delivers the freedom to discover the data the researcher desires, in the environment and at the scale of the researcher’s choosing, with the quality scientific research demands, and with an unparalleled ease of use for both researcher and subjects.

Wireless physiology recordersRaw data from the module set is bandlimited to provide a very high quality recording. Due to battery operation of the wireless transmitter and close proximity to the subject’s body, common-mode rejection ratio is extremely high. Accordingly, notch filters to remove mains interference (50 or 60 Hz) are typically not required. Biopotential amplifier/transmitter signal to noise ratio is very high (in excess of 70 dB). The transmitter is an ultra-low power, 2.4 GHz bi-directional digital RF transmitter.

Interference with other recording modules or systems is greatly minimized because the module transmitter is completely battery operated and operates totally independently of any other recording grounds or power sources. The recording transmitter is also extremely safe to use, because there is no physical connection to supply mains. The transmitter’s battery is designed to provide power for up to 72 hours of continuous operation.

Additional functionality is provided by a switch bank on the Receiver module. Controls are provided for the switching ON or OFF of mains notch filters (50/60Hz), setting module bandwidths, and setting siganl-specific tools, such as integral BPM detector for the ECG pair.

The exterior transmitter body dimensions are approximately 6 cm wide x 4 cm high x 2 cm thick. The transmitter weighs approximately 54 grams and attaches to the subject’s body via a stretchy Velcro strap (included) or BioNomadix® Shirt (optional stretch-mesh shirt).
