On Demand | Research Ring: Real-world Applications

Collecting data from participants in real-world situations just became easier with the new Research Ring.

Simply place the ring on a finger and connect it to a device to collect data from a participant. This convenient form factor allows researchers to collect multimodal data while participants are living life – as they work, play, sleep, and do everything in between. Collect from a group of people in-situ while they are interacting in a meeting or receiving a classroom lesson, or from individuals as they go about their life.

These real-world environments create a unique set of challenges for researchers collecting and analyzing data. This online seminar will focus on common use cases and look at typical data. The use cases fall into two broad categories, in-situ using AcqKnowledge to display signals in real time from individuals or groups of individuals, and remote from participants with the iOS application. The online seminar will focus on data quality, and techniques for optimizing and preparing data for analysis, managing data collection, and device handling.

Example use cases:

In-situ

  • Multiple people in a meeting
  • Single person performing a task
  • Students in a classroom

Remote

  • Wellness/ Health
    • Bike ride
    • Walk
    • Sleep
  • Entertainment
    • Watching a live sporting event
    • Watching a movie
  • Stress
    • Airport security and flight
    • Car journey with heavy traffic
    • Presenting / public speaking
    • Learning a new task
