BIOPAC Systems Helps STARK Industries Launch VITAL Ventilator for NASA JPL

BIOPAC’s ventilator testing equipment and expertise supports STARK Industries’ effort to manufacture, validate, and test NASA JPL’s VITAL Ventilators

Goleta, California – June 16, 2020 BIOPAC Systems, Inc. announced a partnership with STARK Industries, LLC to provide ventilator validation and testing equipment for the mass production of ventilators. STARK Industries was awarded a global license by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) to manufacture, assemble, distribute, sell, and service NASA’s VITAL Ventilator design.

Testing pressure, airflow, and other signals are a critical part of the ventilator manufacturing process. These tests ensure that each ventilator meets critical safety and performance requirements. BIOPAC’s Ventilator Validation Kit (VVK100-SYS) will allow STARK Industries to efficiently perform these tests on every ventilator that moves through their production line.

Technicians will be presented with instructions and prompts to ensure the correct procedure is performed. Scripts will automate the test procedures and workflow and a pass/fail audit trail will be documented. The VITAL Ventilator is geared toward helping the US and global market combat COVID-19. This design focuses on a minimized number of mechanical and electronic components to speed assembly and delivery of working units.

“Our customized solution is designed to be easy to use for ventilator assembly technicians so that manufacturers can deliver life-saving ventilators quickly,” says Frazer Findlay, CEO of BIOPAC Systems. “We are honored to support STARK Industries and JPL in their mission to get ventilators to the hospitals who need them.”

The Ventilator Ventilation System can be used in ventilator prototyping, large-scale production testing for new ventilator manufacturing, and field testing for existing ventilators. Critical pressure, airflow, and oxygen measurements are tracked through the system.
