BIOPAC Supplies Ventilator Testing Systems to Ford in Their Effort to Mass Produce Ventilators

GOLETA, CA – June 4, 2020 – BIOPAC Systems announced an agreement with Ford Motor Company to provide critical equipment and software automation for the validation and testing of 50,000 ventilators, which Ford is producing in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

BIOPAC Systems is a highly regarded life sciences company based in Goleta, California that provides scientific equipment to thousands of researchers in top universities around the world. Their Ventilator Validation System and automated software will allow Ford to validate the pressure, volume, and oxygen levels of each ventilator they produce.

Ford announced in late March that, in collaboration with GE Healthcare, it will begin the production of thousands of ventilators. Ford will employ its manufacturing strength to quickly increase ventilator production, while GE Healthcare provides guidance with their clinical expertise.

About the Ventilator Validation System

The Ventilator Ventilation System can be used in ventilator prototyping, large-scale production testing for new ventilator manufacturing, and field testing for existing ventilators. Critical pressure and airflow measurements are tracked through the system. Test automation and workflow management is available through scripting. Technician instructions, procedures and prompts ensure the correct procedure is performed and an pass/fail audit trail is documented.
