Tri-axial Accelerometers connect directly to the MP3X unit to provide three outputs, each simultaneously measuring accelerations in the X, Y, and Z directions, requiring no additional amplification. One input channel is required for each output—three input channels are required to measure each axis simultaneously.

The accelerometers have a frequency response which extends from DC to 500 Hz. They are extremely accurate and can be easily calibrated by simply changing the orientation in three dimensional space, so that gravity (G=1) acts only upon the desired axis.

Accelerometers can be used on any part of the body or external equipment. The pliable and unobtrusive design conforms readily to body contours.

  • SS26LB is optimal for measuring accelerations when performing slow movements, such as walking
  • SS34L is optimal for measuring quick movements, such as swinging a tennis racket.

Attachment Guidelines

ss26lb accelerometer strapAccelerometers includs two Velcro straps (10 cm and 33 mm)  that will typically work for attachment to finger or wrist. For other locations or to further prevent cable stress/tugging when the subject moves, which might affect the sensor, the sensor can be taped to the subject. Tape the cable at a point a few inches from the accelerometer board/sensor (the molded part), then make a small loop with the cable after the first taping and tape the cable again.

The SS26LB has a smaller profile and replaces the SS26LA effective October 2013.
