Valid and reliable autonomic function testing plays an essential role in identifying a diagnosis, evaluating the prognosis, and treating autonomic nervous system diseases. These tests are also frequently performed in research labs to investigate autonomic responses in both health and disease. Surrogate measures are used to assess autonomic status by presenting different physiological challenges and recording end organ responses.
