Muscular – Psychophys.

Students can measure EMG and Integrated EMG, including force and angle of limb movement. They can listen to the sound of the electrical activity coming from the muscle as they squeeze a hand dynamometer and equate changes in sound form and intensity with changes in force. Add the BSL stimulator and human-safe stimulation electrode for a variety of muscle stimulation experiments. Use the accelerometer to examine movement of limbs, head and torso along in three-dimensional space. Couple the resultant acceleration, velocity and distance data with EMG recordings to obtain a comprehensive picture of skeletal muscle performance.

General-purpose Electrodes These pre-gelled disposable electrodes have a circular contact and are most suitable for short-term recordings, including surface EMG, ECG, EOG, etc. The small vinyl backing allows close electrode placement where necessary, and a slightly less firm adhesive allows "ouchless" removal. The electrodes incorporate liquid electrolyte gel and moderately-high chloride salt concentration for quick, accurate readings.…

Cloth Base Electrodes These disposable cloth base electrodes adhere well and are particularly useful for applications on non-conforming surfaces, such as facial EMG measurements. Due to hydrogel electrolyte concentration, these are also suitable for electrical stimulation studies. Electrodes have a circular contact on a square backing. The adhesive solid hydrogel ensures good contact, and the silver-silver chloride (Ag/AgCl)…

Headphones These wide response high-fidelity headphones are used for auditory stimulus (short tones or clicks) or to listen to physiological signals (like EMG) directly. The headphones are comfortable and lightweight and include a 2-meter cable so the Subject can be seated a comfortable distance from the acquisition unit. Simple Sensor connector interfaces with the “Analog Output” port…

Voltage Stimulators The Voltage Stimulator connects to either the MP36/MP35 or the MP30. BNC output provides compatibility with a variety of stimulator cables. The voltage Range and Level are manually controlled while the pulse timing is user-adjustable and controlled by the Biopac Student Lab software. The Voltage Range (.025-10 Volts or .12-100 Volts) is established by a switch with…

Goniometers & Torsiometers – MP3X/45 Dual-axis devices provide simultaneous measurements around two orthogonal rotational axes and single output devices measure axial rotation about a single plane. Use with MP3X or MP45 unit. SS20L and SS21L dual-axis goniometers measure limb angular movement (e.g., wrist flexion/extension and radial/ulnar deviations). SS22L and SS23L single-axis torsiometers measure forearm pronation/supination. SS24L single-axis goniometer measure joint movement…

Accelerometers – MP3X Tri-axial Accelerometers connect directly to the MP3X unit to provide three outputs, each simultaneously measuring accelerations in the X, Y, and Z directions, requiring no additional amplification. One input channel is required for each output—three input channels are required to measure each axis simultaneously. The accelerometers have a frequency response which extends from DC to…

Stim Electrode, Human-safe The Human-safe Stimulation Electrode HSTM01 provides a superior degree of safety and comfort when using a Voltage Stimulator for human stimulation. The ergonomic design allows the user to focus on the electrode placement instead of worrying about holding the electrode. Subjects depress the red safety switch to allow the software-controlled stimulus presentation through. To stop…

Finger Goniometer 35 mm – MP3X/45 SS24L is used to measure finger joint movement. The gauge mechanism in this single-axis goniometer allows for accurate measurement of polycentric joints. Telescopic endblocks compensate for changes in distance between the two mounting points as the limb moves.  One MP3X/45 channel is required for output. Use medical adhesive tape (TAPE2) to attach to the body. See…
