Autonomic Nervous System – Psychophys.

Use the BSL system to record changes in the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous system. Acquire a wide variety of ANS signals such as EDA/GSR, skin temperature, ECG, pulse, respiration, airflow, nerve conduction, continuous blood pressure, and continuous noninvasive cardiac output (bioimpedance method). Simultaneous graphing shows heart rate, electrodermal activity (GSR) and respiration rates. After the experiment, evaluate the data using the powerful and user-friendly analysis functions and automated scoring routines.

General-purpose Electrodes These pre-gelled disposable electrodes have a circular contact and are most suitable for short-term recordings, including surface EMG, ECG, EOG, etc. The small vinyl backing allows close electrode placement where necessary, and a slightly less firm adhesive allows "ouchless" removal. The electrodes incorporate liquid electrolyte gel and moderately-high chloride salt concentration for quick, accurate readings.…

Bioimpedance Strip Electrodes This disposable strip electrode is used for bioimpedance applications. Each carbon film strip electrode uses isotonic hydrogel to adhere to the participant and provide a conductive medium. The electrodes have a fabric backing for added comfort and conformity to the subject. The electrode uses a snap fit stud for easy interfacing with BIOPAC electrode leads. Advantages of…

EDA Electrodes These dry electrodes are designed for electrodermal activity (EDA) measurements—application of GEL101A isotonic gel (available separately) is required for EDA measurements to establish physiological ionic equivalency to the skin surface. The electrodes conform and adhere well to a variety of skin surfaces. Typically, they are applied around fingers to create a firm bond. These electrodes…

Voltage Stimulators The Voltage Stimulator connects to either the MP36/MP35 or the MP30. BNC output provides compatibility with a variety of stimulator cables. The voltage Range and Level are manually controlled while the pulse timing is user-adjustable and controlled by the Biopac Student Lab software. The Voltage Range (.025-10 Volts or .12-100 Volts) is established by a switch with…

Stim Electrode, Human-safe The Human-safe Stimulation Electrode HSTM01 provides a superior degree of safety and comfort when using a Voltage Stimulator for human stimulation. The ergonomic design allows the user to focus on the electrode placement instead of worrying about holding the electrode. Subjects depress the red safety switch to allow the software-controlled stimulus presentation through. To stop…

Photoplethysmogram for Pulse Waveform – MP3X/45 The SS4LA photoplethysmogram (PPG) transducer operates with the data acquisition unit to record the blood volume pulse waveform via optical methods. The SS4LA consists of a matched infrared emitter and photo diode detector, which transmits changes in infrared reflectance resulting from varying blood flow. Blood is highly reflective of near infrared light wavelengths, due to the…

Respiratory Effort Transducer – MP3X/45 The SS5LB records respiratory effort. The transducer is a rugged strain assembly that measures the change in thoracic or abdominal circumference. The transducer presents minimal resistance to movement and is extremely unobtrusive. Due to its novel construction, the SS5LB can measure extremely slow respiration patterns with no loss in signal amplitude while maintaining excellent linearity…

Temp., surface/fast-response, BSL The SS6L is used to measure temperature on a variety of body locations. The SS6L is also appropriate for use in locations where temperature changes rapidly, as with the temperature changes of inspired/expired breath. TAPE1 can be used to hold the SS6L in place. Replacement sensor available: RX202A
