Laser Doppler Flow Amplifier

Advanced Amplifier for Research Applications

Laser Doppler Flow Amplifier
Part #: LDF100C

The LDF100C is a laser Doppler tissue perfusion monitor for measuring micro-vascular blood flow in tissue. The LDF100C amplifier delivers a low power beam of laser light down an optical fiber to the tissue being studied; typically, the volume of tissue sampled by the light is in the order of 1mm3. The LDF100C amplifier analyzes the Doppler shift created by moving red blood cells and outputs a channel indicating blood flow expressed in Blood Perfusion Units (BPU). On a second channel the LDF100C simultaneously outputs the tissue remittance (Backscatter) from 0 to 100%. Up to four LDF100C amplifiers can be used with a single MP System. See the extensive range of TSD140 series laser Doppler flow probes in the transducer section.

If probes are shipped with the LDF100C, they are factory-calibrated to the module (except Disposable probes). Otherwise, probes are shipped uncalibrated. The LDF100C requires an appropriate Blood Perfusion Unit standard (LDFCAL) when (re)calibrating new or existing probes.

IMPORTANT– The LDFCAL solution has a 3-month lifetime (from creation, not from first use), so it’s best to order it only when required.

Speech as a Form of Social Status Signaling

Humans, much like animals, separate themselves into different social hierarchies often associated by some specific sort of status signal. While animals may assign hierarchies strictly through physiological measures, the Biosocial Model states that speech is often the strongest form of status signaling for humans. BIOPAC user Allan Mazur recently was part of the research team…

Photoplethysmography, Fear Conditioning and Arthroplasty—New Citations

In Technology: Photoplethysmography with a Smart Phone Pulse transit time (PTT) recordings are widely used to make inferences about dynamics of vascular walls and blood pressure variations, parameters useful to the diagnosis of several respiratory conditions.  Chinese researchers have developed a method for noninvasive photoplethysmograhic imaging (PPGi) using the dual cameras of a common smartphone,…
