268 - METABOLIC ANALYSIS SYSTEMS AND PROPANE-BASED VERIFICATION
This application note examines a conventional equipment setup for metabolic measurements. The setup is exposed to a propane-based, combustion verification source that emulates subject’s steady-state consumption of oxygen and production of carbon dioxide. A propane-based, combustion source is a very reliable and accurate metabolic gas generator that can be used to verify the performance of a metabolic measurement system.
The following equipment is discussed: MP150 System, CO2100C carbon dioxide concentration module, O2100C oxygen concentration module, TSD107B airflow transducer with DA100C amplifier, AFT25 face mask and non-rebreathing T-valve, AFT15A mixing chamber, AFT7 tubing , AFT20 gas sampling interface kit, AFT26 calibration syringe, GASCAL calibration gas, and GASREG regulator.
