D-CIS Human Factors - VR and fNIR demos Oct. 13-14

BIOPAC has over 20 years of success and is recognized around the world as a premier choice for life science hardware and software. BIOPAC is cited in thousands of publications. See our demonstrations at the D-CIS Human Factors Event, Oct. 13-14, Delft.

Virtual Reality Platform with Real-time Physiological Feedback
BIOPAC Systems, Inc. presents a virtual reality platform with real-time physiological monitoring. The virtual reality system has options for precision position tracking, using head-mounted displays, and integrating various peripheral devices. While users are immersed in the virtual environment, their physiological signals (skin conductance, heart rate, blood pressure, electromyography, electroencephalography, etc.) can be recorded and also streamed to the virtual reality control software in real time. Thus, the computer can control various aspects of the virtual environment including visual, auditory, haptic, electrical and olfactory stimulation depending on the user's physiological and psychological state. For example, the virtual environment can be changed to reduce the user’s anxiety level based on related physiological feedback. Furthermore, the system records physiological data along with markers indicating stimulation events from the virtual world. This allows for an automated analysis of user responses to the computer modifying the sensory stimulation.

fNIR100 Spectroscopy System for monitoring hemodynamic changes in the human prefrontal cortex

BIOPAC Systems, Inc. presents the fNIR100 System, a functional near infrared spectroscopy system for monitoring hemodynamic changes in the human prefrontal cortex. The system provides an in-lab cognitive function assessment from subjects performing tasks involving executive functions. The emergent technology allows innovative research to be conducted in the field of human-computer interaction.
