Ag-AgCl+RT 8mm TP

For superior radiotranslucent performance when recording from animals in MRI or x-ray based environments (see BIOPAC MRI definitions), use the EL258RT or EL254RT for the recording and reference electrodes. These electrodes employ carbon fiber leadwire. For radiotranslucent requirements, use three EL258RT or EL254RT with each Biopotential module.

Silver-silver chloride (Ag-AgCl) electrodes provide accurate and clear transmission of surface biopotentials. Reusable electrodes are permanently connected to robust and pliable leadwires. The leadwires terminate in standard Touchproof connectors for interfacing to 100C series Biopotential modules or Module Extension Cables.

  • CBL201 required for connection to 100A or 100B-series amplifiers.
Unshielded electrodes terminate in a single Touchproof connector. Shielded electrodes terminate in two Touchproof connectors: one connects to the Ag-AgCl disk and the other connects to the leadwire shield. These reusable electrodes require ADD208 series adhesive collars and recording gel or use GEL103 conductive adhesive gel.

The EL254RT and EL258RT electrodes are suitable for animal use only in the MRI, not recommended for human use. For human use electrodes, see EL508 and EL509.

NOTE : To trigger an MRI System with the occurrence of the R-wave present in animal (high frequency) ECG data being recorded on an ECG100C amplifier directing its output to the MP System, use the DTU100 Digital Trigger Unit.

Electrode safety awareness note.

How to Clean Reusable Electrodes

  1. Do not leave GEL in the cavity after use. If GEL is left in cavity, the Ag-AgCl electrode disk could degrade quickly with time because the electrode surface is somewhat porous to promote good conductivity to the GEL.
  2. To clean the reusable electrode, use a cotton swab or toothbrush with tap water.
  3. Use any lab cleaner with pumice (such as Ajax) with cotton swab or toothbrush to remove any dark residue from electrode surface.
  4. Use Hydrogen Peroxide solution (2-3%) to brighten electrode surface (optional) or to sterilize electrode. Do not place the electrode in solution, but simply clean the electrode surface using a cotton swab.
  5. Dry electrode off completely before storage.
